House renovation
The renewal of the apartment blocks on Király Street 1-3/a- 3 -5 /a-5 was conducted by MIK Plc on behalf of the Municipality of Miskolc. MIK Plc is one of the member company of Miskolc Holding Plc. Altogether, the project included renewal of 274 flats.
MIK Plc. received almost 50% governmental subsidy for the project in 2003, from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The renewal works included the following: waterproofing the roof and heat insulation of the fronting; insulation of the doors and windows; modernizing the electric network; renovation of the neighborhood of the apartment block. The beginning of the project was 10th September, 2004 and the complete finish was 15th December 2006.
The residential building located at Szinva Street 25 was formed by dividing the premises of the former cotton threader. This apartment block and the attached one-story social building were empty for several years. The condition of these buildings has seriously deteriorated during this period. The Municipality decided about the renewal in 2004, and turning the premises into social tenement flats. From the 465 million HUF cost of the project, the city was given 22, 6 million HUF governmental subsidy, and also won 7, 5 million HUF subsidy on a tender of Holcim Hungary Foundation. The complete renewal and the supplying with public utilities started in 2005 and were finished in 2006.
